Undergraduate education

GPA = grade point average, an average of grades in a given year (use two decimal points). If your school uses a letter grade system, assign the highest grade 1, and each consecutive grade letter the next whole number. Please, indicate the grading system at the bottom of this section.


Exams & Grades ?

Students from the Czech Republic (and Slovakia): Please, list M.Sc. and Bc. state exam subjects (e.g. molecular biology, developmental biology) in the left column and the final grade and the year you took the exam next to it. If you obtained only one compound grade for a state exam, use only one row in the relevant section. If you haven’t taken the M.Sc. state exam yet, just leave the section empty.

Students from other countries: Please, list M.Sc. and Bc. state exam subjects (e.g. molecular biology, developmental biology) in the left column and the final grade and the year you took the exam next to it. Please, list M.Sc. exam subjects and grades if your M.Sc. exam was divided into separately graded parts. If there was more than three subjects, list the most important three subjects/modules of the M.Sc. exam. If your education system provides a single grade for the final M.Sc. exam, use one row and describe in the left column the M.Sc. program you studied (e.g. Cell and Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology, Chemical Engineering). If you haven’t taken the M.Sc. exam yet, leave the section empty. Similarly for the Bc. program: if you obtained only one compound grade from the bachelor exam, use only one row in that section.

DNA cloning
Please, specify in the window on the right, if you have experience with any of the following: preparation of recombinant plasmids, production of plasmid libraries (cDNA, miRNA, genomic), cosmids, BACs, YACs.

Cell culture
Please, specify in the window on the right, if you have experience with any of the following: preparing primary cell lines, culturing transformed cell lines, transfection, electroporation, preparation of stably transformed (transgenic) cell lines, embryonic stem cells, use of homologous recombination in embryonic stem cells.

Recombinant proteins
Please, specify in the window on the right which type of expression system and purification you used.

Antibody production
Please, specify in the window on the right, if you have experience with antigen preparation (peptide design, recombinant protein production), immunization (which organism), antibody purification and testing.

Microscopy
Please, specify in the window on the right your experience with sample preparation (e.g. embedding, cryofixation and cryosections), staining method and method for sample observation (SEM, TEM, STEM, etc.).

Computer modeling
Please, specify in the window on the right, if you have experience with 3D image reconstruction, DNA/RNA/protein modeling or any other type of modeling.

Programming
Please, specify in the window on the right which system (Unix, Linux, Windows… and language (Perl…).

Microarrays
Please, specify in the window on the right which platform did you use, which part of the analysis have you been involved in (sample collection, library preparation, labeling, hybridization, sequencing, raw data processing, data interpretation and analysis), and what tools you utilized for the analysis.

Radioactivity 
Please, specify in the window on the right which isotope(s) did you work with. Do you have any official recognition of being trained to work with radioactivity?

Animal work
Please, specify in the window on the right which type of animal work you performed: species, breeding, numbering and tissue biopsies for genotyping, preimplantation embryo collection, post implantation embryo collection and analysis, tissue preparation (which tissues). Do you have any official recognition of being trained to work with animals?

ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS

Advanced = native speaker or fluently speaking, routinely reading English texts, no problems with understanding presentations given by native English speakers and writing correspondence in English

Medium = if any of the following applies: sometimes problems with expressing more complex topics in English, slowly reading English texts, often using a dictionary, missing some parts of presentations given by native English speakers, writing a letter often requires using a dictionary

Beginner = if any of the following applies: only elementary knowledge of English, limited vocabulary, must use a dictionary when reading or writing. Understanding only fragments of presentations in English.

Here you can characterize in more detail your choices on the left. For example, you can add additional experience with methods and tools not listed on the left, specify the length of your exposure to given techniques (e.g. six month experience with confocal microscopy on fixed cells expressing various fluorescent proteins, three month programming in R package, analysis of Affymetrix microarray platforms, analysis of Illumina next generation sequencing ), or provide any additional relevant information on your skills (e.g. if you hold a certificate for animal work, any certificate in English, other languages you speak etc.).
